ViewPoint® Centrifuge Tubes

ViewPoint

ViewPoint® Centrifuge Tubes

ViewPoint® tubes are a tool to help you track the real-time temperature of your samples when doing bench work or transferring samples to storage. ViewPoint® centrifuge tubes visably signal the temperature of the tube and contents. Shifting to dark blue when the temperature of tube contents is below 0°C. This helps you keep better control over your work and can improve processing times.

ViewPoint® Tubes have exclusive features and are Patents Pending worldwide. The three color tube labeling graphics are copyrights, trademarks, and trade dress of Labcon.

Real Time Temperature Signaling Tubes™

ViewPoint® tubes are available in packaging styles for all your needs, including our exclusive IntegraPack® 10 tube Sterile packs, Patented fiber racks, and non-sterile bulk bags (1.5mL). All our sterile products use medical grade packaging and are radiation sterilized following a validated ISO 11137 method to a sterility assurance level of 10-6.

ViewPoint® tubes transition from clear to blue when exposed to cold temperatures. This multi-step and reversible thermochromic transition offers real-time temperature signaling to indicate fluctuations above and below 4°C. At 5° C and above ViewPoint® tubes are clear and transparent. At 4°C ViewPoint® tubes transition to light blue and become slightly opaque. At 0°C ViewPoint® tubes reach their full progressive transition to dark blue, are completely opaque, and provide protection from Ultraviolet (UV) light.

ViewPoint® tubes are offered in 1.5 mL, 15 mL, and 50 mL size tubes in sterile and none sterile packaging.

Optimize Incubation Time On Ice

A large number of protocols require chilled cells and/or chilled solvents. In these protocols samples and solutions are chilled for 30 minutes, 3 hours, or overnight. ViewPoint™ signals that a sample is chilled to 0 - 4°C. Efficient chilling reduces incubation time, saving researchers time in a busy workflow.

Real-Time Temperature Signaling Protects Samples

It is critical to reduce the formation of ice crystals when working with aqueous samples. Ice crystals begin to form at 0 – 4°C and damage cells. ViewPoint® tubes begin transitioning from clear to light blue at 4°C with full dark blue signaling at 0°C. Real-time temperature signaling alerts the researcher to potentially harmful ice crystal formation and enables the maintenance of the desired temperature throughout experimentation.

Protection from Ultraviolet Radiation

When fully dark blue (0°C) ViewPoint® tubes provide added protection from Ultraviolet (UV) light. Unlike other tinted products, ViewPoint® tubes become opaque at 0°C and provide protection from UV, eliminating the need for wrapping tubes in aluminum foil to shield sensitive samples from light radiation. Without a bulky aluminum foil wrap, ViewPoint® tubes fit perfectly into racks and can be clearly labeled on the frosted writing surface.

Endotoxin Endotoxin Free (Non pyrogenic)
Product samples are exposed to endotoxin-free water and the resulting extraction fluid is tested for contamination using the kinetic turbidimetric Limulus Amoebocyte Lysate (LAL) assay protocol and USP guidelines. All products tested must display less than 0.05 EU/ml to be certified free of endotoxin.
RNase/DNase Nuclease Free (RNase/DNase)
Product samples are exposed to nuclease-free water and the resulting extraction fluid is tested for nuclease activity on commercially available 7.5 kb Poly(A) tailed RNA (1µg) and HindIII-digested DNA (1µg) with a one hour 37°C incubation in appropriate buffers. Results are visualized on an agarose gel with appropriate positive and negative controls. Extraction fluid samples must show no degradation of the nucleic acids by the extraction fluid has occurred for the product to be certified as RNase-free and DNase-free
ATP Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP)
Product sample surfaces are tested for the presence of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) using a controlled bioluminescence reaction to detect contamination. Luminescence data is compared to results generated by ATP-free surfaces and surfaces with known amounts of ATP as a positive control. The relative light units result must indicate less than 2 X 10-12 mg/µl of ATP for the product to be certified as ATP free.
Heavy Metals Heavy Metals Free
Heavy metals have been tested for using the prescribed USP method and confirmed to have levels lower than 1 part per million (1ppm)
Sterilization Validated Sterilization
Labcon products are sterilized by radiation sterilization within a dose range of 12-35 kGy. The dose range necessary for the stated sterility assurance level is continuously audited through quarterly bio-burden and sterility validation studies performed according to the ANSI/AAMI/ISO 11137 standard by an independent laboratory. This dosage is sufficient to guarantee a sterility assurance level of 10-6.
Non Cytotoxic Cytotoxicity
These products have been tested using the Sperm Motility Assay and the Mouse Embryo Assay to confirm these items are non-cytotoxic. This testing confirms these products can be used for Tissue Culture procedures.
UV UV Blocking
Excised parts from each lot of product are placed in a spectrophotometer and examined for the ability to block transmittance of UVA, UVB and UVC wavelengths from 100-400 nm. Product lots are also tested for the ability to block transmittance of light wavelengths from 400-750 nm used in fluorescence experiments. Product lots are approved when parts demonstrate 100% blockage of all wavelengths tested.
